Baxter, a curious dog, sets out to explore the boreal forest behind his home. He soon encounters a world alive with many different species, each one uniquely connected to the forest. Baxter listens and learns how each animal shares a story of how they help to keep the forest in balance.

As Baxter travels deeper into the boreal, he discovers that something isn't right, something has clearly gone wrong. With the help of a fellow canine species, he is shown that there can be hope. Baxter learns the story of the boreal forest that needs to be told beyond the trees.
