After a devastating new trauma reawakens the dissociation and fractured inner world born from childhood abuse, Mary finds herself on the edge of survival. Desperate to reclaim her life, she returns to the one place that has always offered refuge: the trail. Alone and in her sixties, she sets out to hike the Continental Divide Trail, a journey stretching thousands of miles through wilderness, isolation, and memory. But as the miles unfold, another presence begins to emerge: Mary Badass, the fierce and resilient self who carried her through impossible odds long before she knew how to name her. Part memoir, part trail narrative, and part exploration of trauma, identity, and endurance, this is the story of a woman walking herself back from the brink - and the beginning of an extraordinary journey of survival and transformation.
