Four winters have passed since the events of The Eagle Feather. The young Auroch boys, of Emil's winter group, are on the cusp of The Trials of Manhood. With the coming spring thaw, the boys must leave the tribe and survive a full moon cycle in The Wilderness. A harsh, desolate high country infested with ravenous Grizzlies.

In the tradition of their fathers and grandfathers before them, this daunting rite of passage must be met for acceptance as men and hunters of the Auroch People.
